Our Story

Founded in June 2006 by Donna Powell, Street Cat Rescue began with a simple act of compassion after rescuing a skinny black cat named 'Kitty Mama'. Initially not a cat person, Donna discovered her passion for helping street cats through her TNR efforts, leading to the establishment of this vital organization.

Impact on the Community

Street Cat Rescue has successfully rescued and provided sanctuary for numerous special needs and hard-to-adopt cats. Their educational initiatives on spaying/neutering and TNR practices have significantly reduced the stray cat population in the Austin area.
