In June 2016, a grassroots effort began in Amarillo, Texas, to tackle the lack of access to children's books for families in need. Storybridge started by reading to children and distributing books, revealing a significant gap in book ownership among low-income families. The mission is to ensure every child in the Amarillo area owns at least 20 age-appropriate books from birth to 5th grade, enhancing literacy and educational outcomes.
Storybridge has successfully distributed over 520,000 books to local children in need, significantly improving their access to literacy and education. Research shows that children with at least 20 books at home achieve three more years of education than those without.
