Our Story
The Stono Institute for Freedom, Justice and Security (SIFJS) honors the legacy of the enslaved African freedom fighters of the Stono River Rebellion of 1739. This non-partisan, multi-ethnic organization is committed to combating racism, poverty, and war as they relate to racial injustice. Founded by African-Americans, SIFJS focuses on education, youth empowerment, accountability, and advocacy to address the historical and ongoing threats to Black life and liberty.
