Our Story
On a rainy Saturday morning in the summer of 1986, a dedicated group of individuals gathered in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, to discuss the urgent need for open space preservation. Inspired by George Wislocki, president of the Berkshire Natural Resources Council, they established the Stockbridge Land Trust in December 1987. With a board of trustees that included prominent civic leaders, the Land Trust has worked tirelessly for over 45 years to protect the town's most significant natural resources through conservation restrictions on privately owned land.
