About Stewpot Community Services

Founded in 1981 by seven dedicated congregations in Jackson, Stewpot Community Services began as a humble soup kitchen, inspired by a similar initiative in Dallas. Over the years, the organization has evolved significantly, expanding its reach to address the complex needs of the community. From its original mission of serving lunch five days a week, Stewpot now operates 15 diverse ministries, including a food pantry, clothing closet, medical clinic, emergency shelters, and youth programs.
