Our Story

Founded in 1979 by members of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, Old School by Steeple People began as a small thrift store dedicated to providing affordable goods to the community. Over the years, it has transformed into a vital resource in the Stevens Square neighborhood, offering quality donated items and fostering a sense of community. After a brief hiatus, the store reopened in October 2018 and quickly gained recognition, being named "Best Thrift Store" by City Pages in its first year.

Impact

Since its inception, Old School by Steeple People has contributed over $1.5 million to local charitable causes, supporting children, individuals experiencing homelessness, and other deserving populations. The store also facilitates donations to various organizations, including 800 pounds of clothing weekly to the Groveland Food Shelf and household goods to the Courage Center.
