The START Children's Center, Inc. was founded in 1993 by District Attorney Mary O. Donohue to support families and youth impacted by trauma, particularly in cases of sexual and physical abuse. Over the years, the center has evolved, securing essential grants and relocating to better serve the community. In 2021, the Hamill House Child Advocacy Center was dedicated in memory of Dr. Richard Hamill, a champion for trauma-informed services for children.
