Established in 1981, Stark County Hunger Task Force has been a beacon of hope for neighbors in need of food assistance. By supporting a network of food pantries throughout Stark County, the organization has made a significant impact on the community. In 2009, the Hunger Task Force opened its own Community Campus Food Pantry at the Ken Weber Community Campus, serving approximately 4,000 individuals each month.
In 2023, Stark County Hunger Task Force distributed over 3.4 million pounds of food, reaching nearly 83,000 households. The Backpack for Kids program, the largest in the county, provides essential meals to more than 2,000 children weekly across 17 local schools and library branches.
Private contributions are vital for sustaining food assistance efforts. Every dollar donated translates to four meals for those in need, ensuring that all donations remain within Stark County.
