Our Story

STAR Education began its journey in the 1980s, addressing the pressing challenges of diminished resources for California public schools and the needs of latchkey children. In 1986, Katya and Erick Bozzi Sr. rallied parents and professionals in West LA to create safe, high-quality educational opportunities for children. This grassroots effort led to the incorporation of STAR Education as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1993.

Over the years, STAR has mobilized community partners, universities, and local leaders to enhance youth education and development. The establishment of the STAR Eco Station in 1997 further expanded its mission, serving as an environmental science museum and wildlife rescue facility. Today, STAR Education impacts over a million learners across California, Tennessee, and New York, connecting students with essential resources for lifelong learning.

For over 30 years, STAR Education has been a leader in innovative educational programming, benefiting over a million students and families annually. The organization has successfully provided tutoring in math, literacy, and STEAM education, resulting in verified increases in test scores for over two decades.
