Our Story
Standing Together to End Sexual Assault (STESA) has been a beacon of hope for survivors since 1974. Founded by Muff Bizwell, Nora Hochman, and Barbara Lindemann, this nonprofit organization began in a garage, addressing the urgent need for support services for sexual assault survivors. Over the years, STESA has expanded its offerings to include a 24-hour crisis hotline, in-person counseling, self-defense classes, and community education programs. In 2018, the organization rebranded to better reflect its mission and the comprehensive services it provides.
Impact
In the 2021-2022 period, STESA supported 519 survivors and their loved ones, conducted 2,817 community prevention sessions, and trained 321 professionals.
