Our Story

Located at 531 Belmont Street in Detroit, Michigan, Stafford House has a rich history that dates back to 1942. Purchased by Moses and Etta Stafford, this historical home became a beacon of hope in a neighborhood that was once restricted to Black families. For over 64 years, the Stafford family opened their doors to those in need, providing safe and caring accommodations for over 200 families migrating to the North in search of better opportunities.
