Our Story
Founded in 1961 by the Augustinian Friars, St. Thomas University began as Biscayne College. It achieved accreditation in 1968 and became a university in 1984, expanding its academic offerings and establishing the School of Law. Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Miami since 1988, it stands as Florida's only Catholic Archdiocesan university. With roots tracing back to the Universidad de Santo Tomas de Villanueva in Cuba, the founders brought a commitment to diversity and education that continues to thrive today.
