Our Story
Founded in July 1976 by two Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Joseph Center began as a small storefront operation in Venice, California, providing advocacy and essential services to low-income families. As homelessness surged in the 1980s, the organization expanded its mission to include support for unhoused individuals, evolving into a vital nonprofit that now serves over 14,000 people annually through more than 25 programs across Los Angeles County.
Impact
In the 2022-2023 period, St. Joseph Center successfully placed 1,910 individuals and families into safe, permanent housing, graduated 227 individuals from job training programs, and provided mental health services to 35,459 individuals.
