Our Story
Founded in 1982, St. John's Bread and Life began in the basement of St. John the Baptist Church to support individuals and families in Bedford Stuyvesant facing numerous challenges. In 2008, the organization moved to a state-of-the-art facility, creating a welcoming environment that offers a wide range of services to help guests transition from crisis to stability.
Impact
In FY 23, St. John's Bread and Life served an average of 9,000 individuals weekly, distributing 4.9 million meals and securing $3.4 million in entitlements for clients.
