Our Story
Founded in 1817, St. George’s Choral Society began as the 'Society of St. George’s Church for the Cultivation of Sacred Music.' Over the years, it has transformed from a church choir into a vibrant community chorus, performing both sacred and secular music. With a legacy of inclusivity, it was the first Episcopalian parish to welcome female choir members and the first white congregation to hire a black soloist. In 2009, it became an independent organization, continuing its mission to bring music to the community through concerts and festivals.
