Our Story

Founded in 1817, St. George’s Choral Society began as the 'Society of St. George’s Church for the Cultivation of Sacred Music.' Over the years, it has transformed from a church choir into a vibrant community chorus, performing both sacred and secular music. With a legacy of inclusivity, it was the first Episcopalian parish to welcome female choir members and the first white congregation to hire a black soloist. In 2009, it became an independent organization, continuing its mission to bring music to the community through concerts and festivals.

Our Impact

St. George’s Choral Society enriches lives through the universal and transformative power of music, focusing on education and outreach to the New York City community.
