Our Story
The Squankum Volunteer Fire Company #1, originally known as the Camp Housman Fire Company, was established on December 12, 1950, to enhance safety for campers at the Camp Housman Boy Scout Camp. Over the years, this dedicated group has evolved from a small volunteer team operating out of a one-bay garage to a fully equipped fire service with its own firehouse, renamed in 1955. Today, the Squankum Fire Company is recognized as one of the best-trained and well-equipped fire companies in Howell Township.
