In 2002, a group of passionate artists and art patrons recognized the lack of artistic expression in Spokane Valley. This inspired the formation of the Spokane Valley Arts Council, officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2004. SVAC collaborates with local businesses, civic leaders, and artists to foster art-related programs and cultural activities, enriching the community without relying on municipal funding.
SVAC has made significant strides in promoting the arts, organizing numerous art auctions and events, including the inaugural Artist Showcase Art Auction in 2009. These efforts have led to the commissioning of public art installations throughout Spokane Valley, while also maintaining a rotating art exhibit at the CenterPlace Regional Event Center, showcasing local talent and engaging the community.
