About Spells Writing Lab

Founded in Spring 2009, Spells Writing Lab launched a series of writing workshops at donated spaces such as bookstores, community centers, and schools. Over the next six months, they served more than 200 students. The organization moved to a building on the Village of Arts and Humanities campus to provide writing-focused instruction, operating after-school tutoring and writing programs for five and a half years before relocating to the Crane Arts Old School building in Olde Kensington in Fall 2015 to expand their in-school programming.

Impact

Spells Writing Lab develops the creative and expository writing abilities of school-age children through free, fun, and imaginative writing programs and teacher development opportunities.
