Our Story

Special Hope Network was founded by Eric Nelson and Holly Holbrook, driven by their passion for supporting children with special needs. Their journey began with the adoption of twin girls from Brazil, both diagnosed with Down syndrome. This transformative experience revealed the critical lack of resources for children with intellectual disabilities, especially in developing countries like Zambia. In 2010, they relocated to Zambia to combat alarming child mortality and disability rates, striving to create a world where every child is valued.

Our Impact

Since its inception, Special Hope Network has positively impacted over 15,640 children and their families by providing essential training, medical care, and educational support to caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities in Zambia.
