Our Story
Founded in 1976 by a dedicated group of parents, Special Citizens Futures Unlimited was established to create ongoing adult programs for individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and developmental disabilities. With the support of a three-year grant, the organization opened its first group home in Westchester in December 1981. Today, SCFU operates multiple residential locations and day habilitation programs across New York City, the Bronx, and Westchester, employing over 200 caregivers to support 300 individuals.
