Spearfish American Legion Baseball

Our Story

American Legion Baseball has a rich history that began in Milbank, South Dakota, in July 1925. Spearfish proudly established its own American Legion team shortly thereafter, aligning with South Dakota American Legion Post 164. For nearly a century, Spearfish has maintained a legion team, fostering a love for baseball in the community. Currently, Spearfish Baseball offers three programs: Teener (ages 13-14), Junior Legion, and Senior Legion, with home games hosted at Black Hills Energy Stadium and Spearfish Forest Products Youth Sports Complex.

Impact

Bill Hughes, a dedicated supporter and coach for over 50 years, has played a pivotal role in nurturing young talent and raising funds through initiatives like the annual pancake breakfast, which generates around $1,000 each year.
