About the Spartanburg Science Center
Founded in 1975, the John F. Green Spartanburg Science Center has been a beacon of science education for over 45 years. Originally established as a project of the American Association of University Women, the center opened its doors to the public in February 1978. With a mission to reconnect land and people through scientific, cultural, recreational, and educational pursuits, the center has evolved to serve over 20,000 students annually.
Impact of the Center
Last year alone, the Spartanburg Science Center conducted over 500 educational programs, reaching more than 19,000 children. The center is dedicated to providing high-quality STEM opportunities to all, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to education.
