Our Story

Founded in 1964 by a passionate group of citizens led by Mary Frances Grimes, the Spartanburg Humane Society was established to provide humane solutions for managing the homeless animal population. Over the years, the organization has evolved to implement proactive strategies that address the root causes of inadequate animal care, significantly increasing the live release rate and reducing the length of stay for animals.
