Our Story

The Southwest Crisis Center (SWCC) has been a beacon of hope since 1984, originally opening its doors in Worthington to support battered women across Nobles, Rock, and Pipestone Counties. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services to include Jackson and Cottonwood Counties, evolving from its roots as New W.A.V. (Women Against Violence) into a comprehensive support system for all victims of domestic and sexual violence. In 1987, the SWCC introduced the Sexual Assault Program, ensuring that survivors of all ages and genders receive the help they need. With the addition of youth services in 2014 and children's advocacy in 2020, the SWCC continues to adapt to the needs of the community.
