Our Story

Founded in 2004, Southside Together Organizing for Power (STOP) emerged from the need to build people power among Black, poor, and working-class residents in neighborhoods like Woodlawn and South Shore. In 2024, STOP merged with Not Me We to enhance its grassroots organizing efforts.

Our Impact

STOP has successfully organized campaigns that preserve affordable housing and advocate for mental health services, achieving significant victories such as community benefits agreements and the reopening of mental health clinics.
