Support For Adults With Limited Abilities

Our Story

EPIC’s journey began in 1985 when a group of dedicated parents recognized the need for support services for their children with disabilities after graduation from special education programs. This determination led to the establishment of Southern Maryland Vocational Industries, which later rebranded as EPIC in 2013, reflecting a broader mission to empower individuals with intellectual challenges.

Making a Difference

As EPIC grew, so did its mission. The organization quickly identified the importance of helping individuals with intellectual challenges find meaningful employment. Through strategic partnerships with local businesses and a dedicated team, EPIC has successfully matched individuals with jobs that not only provide income but also enhance self-esteem and independence.

Comprehensive Support Services

In 1989, EPIC opened its first community home to support individuals with housing limitations. Recognizing that each person’s needs are unique, the organization expanded its services to include in-home support tailored to individual preferences. Today, EPIC offers a wide range of services across Prince George’s, Montgomery, and the Southern Maryland Tri-counties, including residential, day, personal support, and in-home care services.

Empowering Independence

EPIC is committed to empowering all individuals with limited abilities, including those facing age-related challenges or physical disabilities. The organization’s in-home care services provide essential assistance with daily living tasks, medication administration, and complex care, allowing individuals to remain in the comfort of their own homes.

Impact Statement

EPIC provides vital support services to adults with limited abilities, helping them achieve greater independence and inclusion in their communities. Employment support services assist individuals in finding and maintaining meaningful jobs, while residential, day, personal support, and in-home care services help develop daily living skills and coping strategies.
