Our Story

The Southern Education Foundation was established in the wake of the Civil War to create a public education system for newly freed Blacks in the South. Over its 150-year history, SEF has played a pivotal role in educating the newly emancipated population and their descendants, training teachers of color, and supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Impact

SEF has cultivated hundreds of leaders dedicated to improving educational opportunities and making them more equitable for students of color and those from low-income families. Their research and advocacy efforts have brought significant attention to major issues in education.

Why Donate?

Donating to SEF supports their research, advocacy, and leadership development programs aimed at improving educational equity. Contributions help address systemic barriers faced by students of color and low-income families.
