Our Story

Founded in 2009 by a dedicated group of pilots, the Southern California Soaring Academy Inc. began with a vision to revive a glider operation in the high desert of Los Angeles County. With a single tow plane and a handful of gliders, the organization has grown significantly, now boasting over 20 active tow pilots, 15 instructors, and numerous volunteers. Under the leadership of General Manager Christopher Bennett, the Academy achieved 501(c)(3) status, allowing it to expand its mission of using aviation for social good.
