Our Story
Southeastern Correctional Ministry (SCM) is a dedicated Christian organization founded in 1981, with a mission to reach the lost in jails, prisons, and other facilities. Initiated by Earl Powell Jr. and John D. Williams, SCM began with a simple Bible study at Nansemond Correctional Unit. Over the years, this humble effort has blossomed into a robust ministry, now serving 22 institutions across Virginia. With over 100 volunteers, SCM provides essential spiritual support through various roles, including chaplains, counselors, and educators.
