The Southeastern Chapter National Safety Council was established in 1961 to address the alarming rise in traffic fatalities and injuries in the Charleston area. Originally known as the Greater Charleston Safety Council, it has transformed over the years to serve the entire states of South Carolina and Georgia. Since launching the Alive at 25 program, SCNSC has successfully reduced traffic fatalities in South Carolina by 36%, reaching over 230,000 students.
