The Southeast Seattle Senior Foundation was established in 1995 to address the urgent need for quality senior housing in the Rainier Valley. Volunteers united to create a nonprofit organization that successfully raised over one million dollars to purchase The Brighton Apartments, which opened its doors in July 1999. This facility now offers 123 apartments, serving as a vital resource for seniors and their families, ensuring they have access to affordable housing and a supportive community.

The Brighton Apartments has significantly transformed the neighborhood, reducing crime by 30% and fostering a diverse community. With an average resident tenure of eight years, many seniors find a stable and welcoming home here.
