Our Story
The Southeast Regional Cooperative is a member-led 501(c)(3) organization that unites Feeding America food banks across seven southeastern states. This cooperative is dedicated to addressing food insecurity by providing fresh produce to food banks, ensuring that they not only meet but exceed their volume goals. By aggregating surplus produce from local and national sources, the SERC effectively matches supply with the demand of its member food banks.
With a mission to facilitate donations and procure produce at the lowest possible cost, the SERC enhances the purchasing power of food banks while improving the quality and variety of fresh produce available. The cooperative operates a contracted mixing facility, where it aggregates and cross-docks produce to create mixed truckloads for distribution to its members. Governance by a Board of Directors, composed of leaders from supported food banks, ensures that the interests of all stakeholders are prioritized with equity and transparency.
