Our Story

The Southbury-Middlebury Scholarship Foundation was established in 1984 by dedicated residents aiming to help local high school students realize their college aspirations. This volunteer-driven nonprofit organization focuses on raising scholarship funds for students residing in Middlebury or Southbury, Connecticut. In 1997, the foundation began managing the Delmont & Pfeffer Scholarship Fund, a generous bequest from Elfriede Pfeffer, to further assist deserving students with their college tuition costs.

Impact

Since its inception, the SMSF has awarded an impressive total of $762,650 in scholarships to local students, with $24,350 awarded in 2024 alone. The Pfeffer Fund has made a remarkable contribution, providing $4,093,083 in scholarships since 1997, significantly enhancing educational opportunities for students in the community.
