South Walton Turtle Watch Group is a dedicated conservation organization focused on protecting sea turtles and their nesting habitats along the beautiful beaches of Walton County, Florida. With a Florida Marine Turtle Permit, SWTWG conducts daily surveys during nesting season, monitors nests, and responds to sick or injured turtles.
In 2023, SWTWG monitored 34 Loggerhead nests, 21 Green nests, and 1 Leatherback nest, leading to the hatching of 2,517 hatchlings. This vital work supports the conservation of sea turtles, a keystone species that indicates the health of marine ecosystems.
