Our Story
South Texans for Reproductive Justice (STRJ) is a BIPOC, queer-led, volunteer-run organization founded in 2013 in response to targeted political attacks on Texas abortion clinics. Officially launched in 2014 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2019, STRJ operates from the Rio Grande Valley, serving 32 counties along the Texas-Mexico border. The organization pioneered the clinic escort program at the now-closed abortion clinic in McAllen, standing firm against some of the most aggressive anti-abortion protests in the state. STRJ continues to advocate for reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, and access to reproductive healthcare in the region.
Our Impact
STRJ is dedicated to eradicating restrictions on reproductive rights through community events, civic engagement, and educational outreach.
