South Suburban Housing Center
EIN: 51-0175452 · Homewood, IL
Our Story
Founded in 1975 by chapters of the League of Women Voters, the South Suburban Housing Center (SSHC) was established to combat discriminatory real estate practices in the south suburbs of Chicago. Over the years, SSHC has evolved into a leading fair housing enforcement and housing counseling agency, serving the most racially diverse communities outside of Chicago.
Our Impact
SSHC's comprehensive programs assist individuals in all protected classes, ensuring compliance with fair housing laws. Recent initiatives have addressed the mortgage foreclosure crisis, which disproportionately affects communities of color, highlighting the urgent need for our services.
