South Shore Stars
EIN: 23-7097840 · Weymouth, MA
Our Story
Founded in 1970 by Rosemary Wahlberg, South Shore Stars emerged from Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty,” which recognized the importance of federal funding for child care. However, the vision extended beyond mere child care; it aimed to create a comprehensive support system for families. From the beginning, South Shore Stars has focused on quality early education, academic enrichment, and family support, all essential to breaking the cycle of poverty.
Our Impact
Serving over 1,300 children and youth from newborns to 18 years old, South Shore Stars is dedicated to fostering school readiness and academic achievement. The organization provides continuity of services, ensuring that children grow up with the support they need to become successful adults.
