Our Story

Founded in 1980 by Chicago public school teacher Arthur Robertson, the South Shore Drill Team began as a small initiative to provide a creative outlet for local youth. What started with just four teens twirling wooden rifles has blossomed into a nationally recognized organization, engaging over 250 young people aged 8 to 24 each year.

Impact

This organization serves as a vital prevention program, helping youth in some of Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhoods avoid gangs, drugs, and violence. Participants develop a strong work ethic, self-confidence, and respect for themselves and others.
