Our Story
The South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) was established in 1965 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. This organization has evolved to improve equity, wellness, and quality of life for diverse individuals and families through advocacy, education, and a wide range of services.
Impact
In 2022, SMOC provided services to over 45,258 individuals, distributed $462,671 in tax refunds, and assisted more than 1,600 families with affordable housing. Significant strides have been made in addressing homelessness and providing behavioral health services.
