Our Story

The South Fayette Conservation Group (SFCG) is an award-winning nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving, protecting, and enhancing the natural and recreational resources of South Fayette Township, located just southwest of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1993, SFCG addresses critical conservation issues, including urban growth and abandoned mine drainage, through collaborative projects and community outreach initiatives.

Our Impact

Through successful projects like the Gladden Discharge Active Treatment project, which treats over one million gallons of abandoned mine drainage daily, SFCG has significantly improved water quality in local watersheds such as Millers Run and Chartiers Creek. Community engagement through educational programs has further enhanced public awareness and involvement in conservation efforts.
