South Bay CLT
EIN: 85-0539855 · San Jose, CA
Our Story
South Bay Community Land Trust emerged from a rich history of grassroots organizing aimed at combating housing insecurity and gentrification in our communities. In response to the 2017 announcement of Google’s proposed tech campus in San José, local residents and housing advocates convened to explore innovative solutions to protect low-income and working-class families from displacement. Formed in August 2018 and incorporated as a nonprofit in April 2019, South Bay CLT is dedicated to educating the community about the Community Land Trust (CLT) model, which seeks to decommodify housing and ensure stable, secure access to land and resources for generations to come.
Our Impact
South Bay CLT is committed to combating displacement, land speculation, and community deterioration while expanding housing and economic opportunities for low- to moderate-income residents in Santa Clara County.
