Our Story

Founded in 1992 by Mrs. Rafiya Peerbhoy Khan and Mr. Moazzam Ali Khan, the South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters Inc (SAMAR) was established to support patients in need of blood stem cell and marrow transplants. Initially focused on the underrepresented South Asian community, SAMAR has broadened its mission to serve all races and ethnicities, leveraging cultural knowledge to provide specialized care.

Impact

Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer or disorder, and every nine minutes, someone dies from it. SAMAR has registered the largest number of South Asians in the world for the Be The Match Registry, significantly enhancing the chances of finding compatible donors for patients in need.
