Our Story

Established in 1974, the South Alabama Horticultural and Botanical Society Inc. has dedicated itself to developing and maintaining the Mobile Botanical Gardens, a 100-acre sanctuary leased from the City of Mobile. This area, once a longleaf pine forest, is now a vibrant space for preserving the unique flora of the Gulf Coast region.
