Our Story

More than twenty years ago, a dedicated physician, a compassionate dentist, a passionate teacher, and six high school students answered a call for help from an isolated farming community in the Dominican Republic. What began as a simple project to provide fresh water has blossomed into a vibrant primary school and a bustling health clinic, serving over 5,000 people in the region. This grassroots initiative, fueled by a shared vision of empowerment and care, continues to connect with those in need, improving lives through quality medical and dental services.

Impact

The commitment to compassionate care drives every effort at SOMOS AMIGOS. In the past year alone, our dedicated teams treated 1,509 patients, with 85% returning for follow-up care. Our dental teams performed 2,300 unique procedures, while our pharmacy dispensed over 6,500 prescriptions. Each patient encounter is a testament to the transformative power of healthcare, ensuring that individuals can work, grow their families, and thrive.
