Our Story

Founded in 2012, the Somerset County Mobile Food Bank was born out of a pressing need to address food insecurity in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Pastor Barry Ritenour of Bethany Methodist Church recognized the significant barriers faced by residents in accessing affordable food options. After conducting a survey in 2011, he discovered that families living outside of Somerset proper were spending thousands more annually on groceries compared to those in town. This realization sparked the creation of a mobile food truck service aimed at delivering nutritious food directly to those in need.
