Our Story

Founded in 1979 as the Region IV Council on Domestic Violence, Someplace Safe began with a mission to support battered women in Fergus Falls. Over the years, the organization has evolved to address a broader spectrum of issues, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. With a commitment to creating safer communities, Someplace Safe now operates across a nine-county region in West Central Minnesota, providing essential services that empower individuals and families.
