Our Story
Soil Born Farms Urban Agriculture & Education Project began in 2000 as a for-profit farm, founded by Shawn Harrison and Marco Franciosa. The mission was to reconnect urban communities with healthy food. In 2004, it transitioned into a nonprofit organization, focusing on health promotion and experiential learning opportunities for all ages. With two urban farms spanning 55 acres in Sacramento and Rancho Cordova, Soil Born Farms has developed innovative education and food access programs in collaboration with local schools and agencies.
