Our Story
The International Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam in Paris, France. Frederic and his fellow students sought to assist the poor by providing them with bread, clothing, and companionship. The first St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Alameda County was active from 1882 to 1892, with the current Council established in 1938.
Our Impact
Over 800 Vincentian volunteers across 37 parishes in Alameda County assist more than 100,000 individuals annually, offering food, clothing, job training, and emergency resource referrals.
