Our Story
The Society of Wetland Scientists was established in 1980 by Richard Macomber, a dedicated biologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This organization serves as a vital forum for scientists and managers to collaborate on wetland research, education, conservation, and management. With over 3,000 members across more than 60 countries, SWS is committed to promoting best practices in wetland science and enhancing the understanding of these crucial ecosystems.
