About the Society of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of Virginia

Founded in 1895, the Society of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of Virginia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization dedicated to preserving the rich history of the American Revolution. With over 500 active members, SRVirginia is the third largest chapter in the United States, following New York and Pennsylvania. The Society began its journey in Richmond, Virginia, with just twenty charter members and has since grown to celebrate significant historical events, including the Annual General George Washington’s Birthday Celebration, which has become a cherished tradition.

Members of SRVirginia have played a vital role in supporting the nation through two world wars and beyond, contributing funds to preserve antiquities, create honorary monuments, and mark the graves of veterans and Revolutionary contributors.
